Hi, I'm Cat Audi.
I design on & off the internet.

Head of Design at Guideline. Traveled the world for a bit. I've designed products that are used and loved by billions of people. Formerly at Facebook & Instagram.

Guideline

Sr. Director | 2020 - Present

Responsible for the UX functions of Guideline — a retirement platform that supports 47,000 businesses, 600k savers and $12B in AUM. Led a major rebrand and shipped the first Guideline app for Android and iOS.

Instagram Shopping

Lead Designer | 2018 - 2019

Shopping on Instagram helps people easily discover and buy products they love from the people and brands that they trust. It gives businesses tools (beyond ads) to engage with new and existing followers.

AR Try-On

Lead Designer | 2019

I partnered with the SparkAR team to bring shopping with augmented reality to Instagram. AR helps people try on items directly in stories and compare which ones fit them best. It’s a fun and quick way to get help from friends about what to buy or share your taste with others.

Instagram Save

Lead Designer | 2018

I led the redesign of Save on Instagram making it easier to remember the posts and products that inspire you — an important first step for Shopping on IG. The shopping collection (or Wish List) makes it especially easy to shop stories after they’ve expired.

News on Facebook

Lead Designer | 2017 - 2018

In early 2017 I moved to New York and joined the newly formed News Credibility team. Our mission was threefold: empower people to make informed decisions about the news they read on FB; promote civil discourse between differing opinions; and encourage a diverse news diet through awareness and education.

Marketplace

Lead Designer | 2014 - 2017

I designed and launched the first iteration of Facebook Marketplace and helped it scale around the world. The idea to provide a safer way to buy and sell within your community started as a tiny hackathon project around sale groups and eventually became one of the most used parts of the app.

CodeHS

Lead Designer | 2013 - 2014

CodeHS is a platform that helps high schools provide computer science curriculum, even without technical teachers. I joined the company as the 5th employee and sole designer. Along with a full product redesign and rebrand, I helped scale the team and establish the design culture. CodeHS has helped millions of students learn to code and I'm proud to say that they still rely on the design system I implemented.

Talks & Conferences

I'm extremely lucky that I get to do work that I love and think it's important to give back to the design community. I'm passionate about coaching university students and traditional design professionals to get them ready for a career in Product Design and have led workshops around the world on product thinking and prototyping. At Facebook & Instagram I mentored new design hires, created and taught classes for our on-boarding bootcamp, and worked to increase empathy for the design discipline by running "How to Work with Product Design" sessions for PMs and Engineers.
